The Slovak Antimonopoly Office (PMÚ) announced on 9 October 2026 that on 25 September it had cleared a concentration under which Veolia Energia Slovensko, a. s. acquires sole control of ENGIE Services a.s., Račianska teplárenská, a.s. and Prvá ružinovská spoločnosť s. r. o.; the decision became final on 28 September. PMÚ examined the areas where the Veolia and Engie groups overlap in Slovakia, focusing on heat supply and on competition to operate district heating systems. For decentralised heat sources serving individual buildings, building complexes or industrial sites, it found that competition takes place project by project and that sufficient competition remains. For district heating, where operators are usually chosen by tender and then hold an exclusive position under long-term contracts, PMÚ concluded that other capable bidders remain, naming ESCO Slovensko, STEFE and MH Teplárenský holding. It assessed Bratislava separately, where Veolia and MH Teplárenský holding are significant, and took into account Engie's gradual weakening there and recent tender outcomes. The price was not disclosed.
