Infortar exits printing, selling its whole print arm to Print Best

Estonia's listed investment holding Infortar has signed a share purchase agreement to sell its entire printing business to Viljandi-based OÜ Print Best: 100% of Tallinna Raamatutrükikoda, 100% of security printer AS Vaba Maa and 60% of card producer CardPlus VM. Infortar describes the transaction as an exit from the printing services segment and states it is not material to the group. Tallinna Raamatutrükikoda prints hardcover and softcover books and brochures for Estonian and Nordic customers; Print Best sells into Sweden, Denmark, Germany, the Netherlands and Estonia and is 75%-controlled by OÜ Tradeunion. The combined share of Estonian paper-print services stays below 15%. Terms were not disclosed; closing awaits clearance from the Estonian Competition Authority.

Our take Two things make this worth watching. First, a listed holding is selling a whole segment and telling the market it does not matter — which is usually how a business that no longer fits gets released rather than fixed. Second, the buyer is a mid-sized operator already exporting into four Nordic and Western European markets, so this is capacity and product range bought by someone who has the customers for it. For owners in fragmented industrial niches, that is the more likely exit route than a financial buyer arriving with a thesis.
