O2 Czech Republic seeks clearance to take sole control of IT services firm NESS Czech

Czechia's competition authority ÚOHS published on 12 October 2026 a notice that, at the request of O2 Czech Republic a.s., it opened a simplified merger procedure on 9 October 2026. Under the notified transaction, O2 Czech Republic is to acquire sole control of NESS Czech s.r.o., based in Prague 4. According to ÚOHS, the concentration concerns mainly the provision of IT services. Third parties may submit objections within five days of publication. The notice does not name the seller or state the price, and no figures on NESS Czech's size are given.

Our take A telecom operator buying an IT services company is a move from selling connectivity to selling the systems that run on it — the B2B integration work where margins and contract lengths are better. The simplified procedure signals that ÚOHS sees no meaningful overlap to examine. In mid-sized IT integration and services across the region, telcos now compete for targets with IT groups and private equity.
