Chicago's Madison Air notifies acquisition of Germany's ebm-papst in Slovakia

Slovakia's Antimonopoly Office opened proceedings on 10 September 2026 in a concentration under which Madison Air Solutions Corporation of Chicago acquires indirect sole control over ebm-papst Mulfingen GmbH & Co. KGaA & Co. KG, Elektrobau Mulfingen GmbH & Co. KGaA, ebm-papst Verwaltungs GmbH and ebm-papst Finanzierungsgesellschaft mbH, all of Mulfingen, Germany. The announcement was published on 11 September. The office lists the activities concerned under wholesale of other machinery and equipment and manufacture of electrical household appliances. This is a notification, not a clearance: third parties, both individuals and companies, may submit comments, objections and information on notified concentrations, and the office asks that they do so as soon as possible after publication so that it can take them into account in the first phase of its assessment.

Our take This is what the early stage of a deal looks like from the outside — a case number, a list of legal entities and an industry code, published because the law requires it. It is also a reminder that mid-sized CEE economies see the local filings of transactions decided elsewhere. The target is a German fan and motor manufacturer; the buyer is an American group; the Slovak notification exists because both sell into Slovakia. For an owner, the practical point is that regulators publish these notices deliberately, inviting competitors and customers to comment. If a transaction in your sector is announced, that window is your one formal chance to put a view on the record — and it closes quickly.
