INVL timberland fund has completed the sale of more than 2,600 hectares of Latvian forest to a Danish-owned buyer

On 7 October 2026 Invalda INVL announced that INVL Sustainable Timberland and Farmland Fund II has completed the sale of more than 2,600 hectares of forest in Latvia. The forest portfolio was owned by the fund's Latvian companies Zemvalde Forest and Zemvalde Agro; the plots were located mostly in the Vidzeme and Latgale regions. The buyer is a Latvian-registered company owned by Danish investors; it was not named. Karl Danielsson Farm & Forest represented INVL, running the sales process through to completion. The fund manages 21,000 hectares of forest and agricultural land in the Baltics and Romania and raised EUR 98 million from investors; it plans to reinvest the proceeds in other forest and agricultural land. The price was not disclosed.

Our take This is an exit of a land portfolio, not of an operating business — the value sits in hectares and standing timber, and the buyer is a foreign financial investor rather than a local processor. The use of a specialist land broker to run the process is the norm in this segment: buyers usually compete in a structured sale against a pool of Nordic and other foreign land investors rather than negotiate one to one. Danish and Nordic capital remains an active buyer group for larger Baltic forest holdings.
