Finland-owned InMedica cleared to buy Klaipėda's Navickas clinic

Lithuania's Competition Council announced on 18 September 2026 that it has allowed InMedica to acquire 100% of the shares of Navicko klinika and take sole control of it. The notification was received on 21 August 2026; the council concluded that the concentration will not create or strengthen a dominant position or significantly restrict competition in the relevant markets. InMedica belongs to Mehiläinen, one of Finland's largest private healthcare and social services companies, and together with related companies provides healthcare, dental and medical laboratory services in Lithuania, operating the Meliva and Clinic DPC clinic networks. Navicko klinika, based in Klaipėda, provides healthcare, dental and medical laboratory services. No price, revenue or employee figures appear in the announcement.

Our take This is the fourth clearance in a familiar Lithuanian pattern: a Nordic-owned platform buying a single-city clinic. The buyer is not looking for a company to run from Vilnius — it is buying a catchment area, a payer relationship and a roster of doctors, and folding them into a network that already carries the back office. For the owner of a clinic that mostly means the price is set by what the acquirer saves rather than by what the clinic earns on its own. Two practical consequences follow. A seller who has already professionalised billing, scheduling and compliance hands over a cleaner asset and argues from a stronger position. And a seller who is one of several targets in the same city should know it: sequence matters, because the second clinic in a region is usually worth less to the buyer than the first.
