Medical equipment Romania Acquisition — cleared 8 Sep 2026

Two Romanian construction families cleared to buy medical equipment supplier Vici Evolution

Romania's Competition Council announced on 8 September 2026 that it has authorised the transaction by which Cristian Erbașu and Vlad-Francisc Iman intend to acquire Vici Evolution S.R.L. Cristian Erbașu is one of the shareholders of the Erbașu group, which works mainly in construction and infrastructure — civil and industrial building, road and municipal infrastructure, design and architecture services — and is also active in real estate development, agriculture and food, hospitality, IT and consulting, as well as in extracting and supplying construction materials. Vlad-Francisc Iman is one of the shareholders and representatives of the Iman Group, which operates mainly in medical infrastructure and construction, providing planning, design and execution for hospital projects and other medical facilities. Vici Evolution supplies medical equipment and integrated solutions for the healthcare sector, selling medical imaging equipment, laboratory and intensive care apparatus, patient monitoring and care solutions, medical furniture and consumables. The council found the operation does not raise significant obstacles to effective competition.

Our take The buyers build hospitals; the target equips them. That is the whole logic of this deal, and it is one of the most reliable patterns in mid-market M&A: the acquirer moves one step along the chain it already serves, because it can see exactly how much margin sits in the adjacent step and exactly how the customers behave. If you own a supplier in a sector like this, your most motivated buyer may not be a competitor at all — it may be a contractor, an installer or a distributor that is already standing next to you in every project. Note also that the buyers are named individuals rather than a corporate entity. Private acquisitions by principals move faster than committee-driven processes, but they also come with less standardised terms, so the quality of the documentation matters more, not less.
