Road builder enteria cleared to acquire majority stakes in three Znakon group companies, including an asphalt plant

The Czech competition authority ÚOHS announced on 30 September 2026 that it had cleared enteria a.s. of Pardubice to acquire a majority in ZNAKON, a.s., Znakon Asfalt s.r.o. and Znakon Servis s.r.o. The decision is final. The enteria holding works in road construction — building, repairing and reconstructing road infrastructure and water engineering structures — and in producing and supplying asphalt mixtures; its companies also do property development. Znakon started in road marking and later moved into road repair and maintenance, well drilling and construction. In 2016 its activities were split into Znakon Asfalt, Znakon Servis and Znakon Reality, forming the Znakon Group. The sale covers a majority in three of the group's companies: ZNAKON, a.s. (construction), Znakon Asfalt, which runs the asphalt mixing plant in Strakonice, and Znakon Servis, which rents out vehicles, construction machinery and equipment long-term. ÚOHS found no risk of a significant impediment to competition. No price or exact stake was disclosed.

Our take Two points stand out. The buyer takes the operating companies and the asphalt plant, while Znakon Reality, the property company, is not part of the sale — a common way to keep real estate with the family and sell only the business. And for road builders an asphalt plant is a strategic asset: it secures supply of material in a region and makes a contractor competitive in tenders there. A regional construction group with its own plant and machinery fleet is therefore an obvious target for a larger contractor expanding geographically.
