Forestry-linked holding Bono Coffee files to take control of Latvian vending operator Kafijas pasaule

On 7 October 2026 Latvia's Competition Council received a notification from SIA Bono Coffee to acquire decisive influence over SIA Kafijas pasaule; the Council published it on 13 October. Bono Coffee is a newly formed Latvian holding company set up for this transaction, with no operations of its own. Its related companies work mainly in forestry and timber trading: buying and managing forest property, logging, and wholesale and export of roundwood, sawn timber and other wood products. Kafijas pasaule runs self-service vending machines selling hot and cold drinks, snacks and other food across Latvia, rents out and services coffee machines, and sells coffee and coffee machines. According to the filing, the parties do not operate in the same market. The Council has one month from notification to decide, extendable to three months; comments are invited until 21 October 2026. The seller and price were not disclosed.

Our take A buyer from forestry with no overlap is buying a route-based service business with recurring revenue from placed machines and servicing contracts. The deal uses a special-purpose holding company formed just for the acquisition, a structure typical of a buyer that plans to keep the target as a stand-alone business.
