AcadeMedia cleared by Poland's UOKiK to take over KIDS&Co., the country's largest international preschool chain

Poland's competition authority UOKiK cleared on 22 September 2026 (decision DKK-212/2026, published in its concentration register on 23 September) the acquisition of control by ACM 2001 AB of Stockholm over Centrum Rozwoju Dziecka sp. z o.o. and Centrum Edukacji Dziecka sp. z o.o., both based in Warsaw. ACM 2001 AB is a holding company in the AcadeMedia group. According to the filing, the two companies mainly provide education and care in preschools and nurseries in Poland, plus training, mentoring and programmes for teaching staff. Centrum Rozwoju Dziecka is the company that operates the KIDS&Co. chain. The notification was received on 13 August 2026. AcadeMedia announced on 7 August 2026 that it had signed an agreement to acquire all shares in KIDS&Co. According to that announcement, KIDS&Co. was founded in 2006, runs 34 bilingual preschools with about 3,000 places for children aged 0–6 in Poland's major cities, reported net revenue of about PLN 99 million in 2025 with adjusted EBITA that AcadeMedia describes as in line with its Preschool & International segment, and is opening its first primary school in Warsaw in September 2026. It is AcadeMedia's first acquisition in Poland; the company describes it as a platform for greenfield openings and bolt-on acquisitions. KIDS&Co. CEO Piotr Kulikowski is quoted in the announcement. No price has been disclosed, and neither company has yet announced completion.

Our take AcadeMedia calls this a platform acquisition, and that is the useful word for buyers of private preschools in Poland. A buyer entering a new country pays for the first, largest asset it can find and then grows around it — through new openings and through small add-ons. The announcement names both. KIDS&Co. was built over twenty years in the big cities; the natural add-ons are single-site or small-group operators in the same cities and in the ones it does not yet cover. The chain was also bought with its CEO in place and quoted in the release, which suggests continuity of management was part of what AcadeMedia was paying for. The clearance came less than six weeks after filing, a normal pace for a deal with no overlap in Poland.
